Applicants must obtain a permit from the Town of Payson or Gila County before applying for a permit with GVW.
A valid permit number is required to submit an application to GVW.
All new documents submitted to the Town of Payson or Gila County must also be uploaded to your GVW Portal

Building and Sewer Connection Permits for Residential and Commercial Properties
Green Valley Water may request additional information during the review process
to ensure each project meets applicable requirements and regulations.
All residential and commercial buildings located within the Green Valley Water
service area are required to obtain a sewer connection permit.

Pre-permit is recommended when you are considering a property and need to know
whether sewer service may be available before starting a formal permit application.

This parcel number allows Green Valley Water to review service boundaries,
system availability, and existing records tied to the property.

SEWER PERMIT PROCESS
This guide explains the steps needed to obtain a Green Valley Water (GVW) sewer permit.
The process must be completed before your Town or County building permit can be issued.
🟦 Step 1: Apply for a Building Permit
Start by applying for a building permit with the Town of Payson or
Gila County.
🟦 Step 2: Get Your Building Permit Application Number
You will need your Town or County building permit application number
before applying for your sewer permit.
🟦 Step 3: Apply for Your GVW Sewer Permit
Submit your sewer permit application through the GVW Customer Portal:

⏳ Permit Review Timeline
Status: 🟡 Applied
GVW receives your application and supporting documents.
Status: 🟠 Under Review
GVW reviews your plans and works with the Town of Payson or Gila County.
If corrections are required, you will be notified.
Any requested corrections must be uploaded to your GVW Customer Portal
so they can be reviewed.
Status: 🟢 Ready to Issue
Once all reviews are complete, you will receive an email with instructions
for payment and final steps.
💳 Step 4: Pay Permit Fees
Permit fees may be paid in person at GVW or over the phone.
After payment is received, your sewer permit will be issued and all documents
will be sent to you electronically by email.
📣 Step 5: Town or County Permit Release
GVW will notify the Town of Payson or Gila County that your sewer permit
has been issued. Once notified, the Town or County may release your
building permit.
CONSTRUCTION & INSPECTION
This phase occurs after your sewer permit has been issued and construction begins.
🟦 Step 1: Construct the Sewer Connection
The applicant or licensed contractor constructs the residence and sewer service
connection in accordance with the approved plans.
📅 Step 2: Schedule an Inspection
The applicant, contractor, or plumber must contact Green Valley Water to schedule
an inspection at least 24 hours in advance.
🔍 Step 3: GVW Inspection
Green Valley Water inspects the sewer service connection to ensure it meets
all applicable standards and requirements.
✅ Step 4: Inspection Approval & Billing
Once the inspection passes, the permit is finalized and account billing begins.
🚧 Important Note: Sewer Taps
For all sewer taps, only Green Valley Water is authorized to
perform the installation. Please coordinate with GVW before any related work begins.
📁 Step 5: Permit Closure
After all inspections are complete and requirements are met, GVW closes the permit.
